An End to the Shooting
My vision for an improved educational system does not simply revolve around additional financial support for schools.  While I continue to strive to increase the amount of resources to our children, I am also collaborating with local non-profit organizations to encourage additional parental participation.  Furthermore, I am working with private companies to secure contributions of necessary materials and equipment, such as computers.

Preschool for All
The opportunity for children to receive an early education has proven to be a significant factor in helping them achieve success in their lives.  In 2005, I assisted in the implementation of a new program called Preschool for All.  This program made it possible for Illinois to become the first state in the nation to create and provide curriculums to every 3- and 4-year-old child within the state.  Since this provision is scheduled to expire, I worked this year to extend this nationally-recognized program until mid-2010.
